I'd mention that the Katy Perry one is centred around an original concept (i.e. the sweets/candy style). There are innocent vs. sexual connotations but also just that it's something to set the album cover apart from others. It grabs audience attention and is memorable becasue of it.
For Rihanna, i'd talk a little more about the dark red tones and the connotations of this colour.
