font ideas

While we were editing our video we started to get ideas on what sort of font we wanted our font written in, and when researching on the internet on a site called 'Font Image Generator' on different types these are the ones that we found and we thought matched with our genre. As it was romance we didn't want any font's written in horror style so we stuck with ones that were simple but yet effective. We had chosen to put these at the start of video as it is setting the story, even though we are going to leave some titles till the end of the video so it rounds it off.  We also used the snipping tool to cut the images and transfer them onto an image so that we could put them onto blogger.

Some music videos that use titles and the effects of them:

This music video is about the female singer 'Pink' after she had her heartbroken, she says the lyrics  "I think I've finally had enough, I think I maybe think too much, I think this might be it for us (blow me one last kiss), you think I'm just too serious, I think you're full of shit, my head is spinning so (blow me one last kiss)''. This is implying that after she has had her heartbroken, she isn't going to let it happen again. This song fits in with our genre, as it's about romance and love. The titles that are used in this song, go on a clip of her and the male, and this is then edited to make it look old and 'sepia', they do this because they want to show that the memories of the couple are old news now. The titles are placed at the start of the video, and are faded in and out which is a convention of romance, as romantic things tend to be more slow . The typography used in this video, is quite large and bold fonts, and we wouldn't expect this from a romance video, but having them fade in and out adds more realism to the video.

This song is all about the male singer pleading for the female in his life, not to leave him. The lyrics being sung are ''so don't go, don't leave, please stay with me, cause you are the only thing  i need to get by, to get by''. This matches the romance genre because it's showing the male serenading the female begging for her. The titles are at the beginning of the song, and they are placed over the male singing and faded in and out, again this is a convention of a romance genre as it tends to be more dissolves and fades and slow edits in a romance video. The typography used in this video, is large bold fonts that stand out against the singers face, i think this is a good choice for this video because it is suggesting that even though the male can be romantic the titles are bold and quite serious so this could also imply that the male is serious about the relationship as well.
The titles are shown over the males face as he is singing, and they then fade away so that it doesn't take any focus off the male. Also they are shown at the start of the song so that it gives the audience more chance to sympathise with the singer and his situation

This video is about the singer and she is head over heels in love with the male, she describes how she cant live without him, the lyrics sung are ''every time we touch i get this feeling, and every time we kiss i swear i could fly, can't you feel my heart beat fast, i want this to last, i need you by my side. Cause every time we touch i feel the static and every time we kiss i reach for the sky, can't you hear my heart beat so?, i cant let you go, i want you in my life''. The titles again fade away to reveal the female and the male staring into each other's eyes which are both conventions of a romance music video. The typography here is bold and bright white which connote that she is pure and innocent but also that she can be serious and she is obviously serious about her relationship.

This image shows that the titles of the song are bold and white, which makes it stand out from the background, and are shown at the very start of the song, which doesnt take any focus from the singer.

This song is about the male singer, saying that once you have found something beautiful, either in a person or an animal is amazing, and he's also saying don't let anything hold you back from being the person you want to be. The typograhy is quite bold, and also while the singer is singing, the name of the song, goes through lots of different fonts and then ends up in one that is simple and this also implies that maybe everything in life is simple. Also the white of the font suggests that the singer is pure and innocent.
This image shows that the name of the song going through lots of different types of font, and this could also imply that everything that is wonderful is different from everything else and is unique to each one person.

The font used in this image is tall, parallel and thin, which also matches the words of the company on the screen.

The font shown in this image is simple, and this suggests that everything that is wonderful is simple, and this matches with the name of the song and also implies that as well as the song the title has meaning too.

Although there are a lot of music video's now that don't use titles, as the singer already be may well known so the audience would already know who it is. Also i think using titles in a music video could challenge the conventions of the genre of the song, for example songs like 'Birdy - Skinny Love' and 'Demi Lovato - Skyscraper and 'Miley Cyrus - When i look at you', all these music video's are romance songs either about heartbreak or loving someone, none of these videos use titles, and i think that they don't use them because then it doesn't take any focus away from the song and the singer, so that the audience are fully concentrating on the song, and will therefore sympathise with the video more. When we compare the videos that we have looked at, we have decided that as a group we want titles at the start of our music video, and also we want them to be white, as they are going to play over pictures(memories), and this would connote that the memories are all innocent until something happens and destroys them. Also we are going to use fades onto titles so that it looks like as the memories are fading away, so is everything else.

  1. Talk about why you want title, where they're gonna go, what you were looking for within the font choice. What software did you use (also put this on your audit sheet for the exam)?
